Under the knife

Bags packed, off to hospital with Mr Nine-year-old who is having his tonsils out today.

I know this is a bog standard, lots of people have it type thing, but all the same, it's my baby going under the knife and I'm having Mummy moments about it.

I'll be jotting down my hospital experiences for future reference, of course, and more importantly, my feelings. He's pretty cool about it all. What he was most concerned about this morning was not being allowed to eat breakfast.

Typical boy.

I didn't know kids still had tonsils removed these days. I thought that operation was a relic from my time.

We always thought getting our tonsils out was cool, because post-operative sore throat meant we got to eat ice cream and drink ginger ale for a week.

Best of luck to mother and child!===================

They're not very forthcoming with ye ole tonsils operation nowadays, the poor kid had cumulatively over 6 weeks sick off school this year with ears & tonsils, and even then we had to push to get this done - privately in the end.

But t'is done and I'm looking forward to a well child next year!

Soundsa bit like a replay of my childhood: tonsils, (adenoids), ear surgery. But I am evidence that one can overcome such obstacles to become a reasonably functioning adult!
