I have mentioned on this blog before the importance of my dear cat, Smooch, in my writing life, and how the sound track to my novels had been the not so gentle tones of her snoring. We were all bereft when Smooch succumbed to old age a few months ago, and I have to say my writing has suffered. Part of that was due to where I was at in Bound - the editing stage, and more recently proof reading (sent off the last proofs yesterday). But mostly, it was because I missed Smooch, I missed her company, and just knowing there was another being in the house with me.
We all decided we were ready to introduce a new furry companion into our lives, so let me introduce you to the newest member of the Symon household - Louie. He is sitting behind me as I type, and is shaping up very nicely into a writer's cat. He doesn't sit on the keyboard - always a bonus - or me, but just likes to be close, seeing what I'm up to, making sure he's not missing out on anything. So far he hasn't stopped being nosey and curious enough to settle down for a nap, so I am yet to see if he snores...

Vanda - Welcome to the new member of the family! What a handsome boy he is! Thanks for sharing :-)
Louie looks adorable. I hope you enjoy many writing hours together.
May Louie keep his paws off the printer and keyboard and provide much fabulous furry companionship. :)
(My cat likes to turn the printer on and off... I think it means it's time to take notice of her!)
I think cats are fascinating - our Sparky has my husband well trained - not me of course!
Cats certainly change the dynamics of your household, in a good way. It's hard to remain grumpy when there's this madly purring orange critter rubbing around your legs insisting that you pat him! Louie been remarkably well mannered and is a quick learner, so now doesn't jump up on the dining room table, or eat the pot plants...
Miaou! Purr....
Cool looking (and sounding) cat.
What's the old saying, 'dogs have masters, cats have servants'...?
Our family has always been a cat family too.
What a beautiful boy Louie is! He looks like a Somali, so of course reminded me at once of our Abyssinian boy, our companion for 18 years until old age claimed him. He was much the same: always wanting to be around, but only occasionally wanting cuddles, although that changed in his final months, when he wanted to be fussed over and held every waking hour. Now I have to inveigle the neighbours' cat over when I feel the need of feline company.
Louie... now doesn't jump up on the dining room table.
In our case, that meant "doesn't jump up on the dining room table when anyone's looking."
