Home again...

...and I am certain that in the time we were away, the assortment of papers, books, pens, notes, reference material and general crapola on my desk got into the whole spring, new life thing and bred mightily. Because, I swear, there wasn't this much crud on it when I left. And some of it seems to have attempted an escape by diving off onto the floor where it's formed a sort of a paper pond, complete with ripples emanating out from a central splash of trash.

Sigh.

The papers on my desk at work have a similar incestuous relationship

I think your papers and my papers must be related. Mine do the same thing....

Three or four years ago I gave up using my desk. The paper and the heaps and the piles just took over somehow.

But I have a plan. When I retire (in 17 years or so), I will use it all as fuel in our woodburner.

Hey Dorte - I like your plan. I hate to think what your desk is going to look like after 17 years of accumulation though!

I've often been tempted just to bring the wheelie bin in and sweep it all off the desk in one satisfying move. But then I'd fret about what was actually in there... cheques...momentos...vital information....small children...

I've always contended that there is a finite amount of paperwork in our household, and some how it gravitates to the office desk. The office desk is the blackhole and attracts all and sundry. My wife once tried putting things into a clear file, which worked, until one of the kids pulled it off the table and it exploded. Paper carnage everywhere.

Mmmmm ... I just found a receipt from 2003, I think it was supposed to be in the tax folder submitted 2004/5.
